"Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me"
 -- "Breathe Me" by Sia

I had vaguely heard about her in the past few days, and so this morning I began reading about the story of Amanda Todd. I also watched the Youtube she made weeks before she took her own life. I still have a horrible habit of reading user comments, and frankly they almost always leave a sour taste in my mouth. Yes, she made some unwise decisions, but nobody should be ostracized to the same extent that she experienced.

The truth is, this happens all the time. I still remember when a girl I was somewhat friends with in middle school was cyberbullied on Myspace. To this day, I have no freaking clue why they targeted her. She was fortunate that she had a group of friends who came to her defense and stuck by her side. But to this day, all I can think of regarding middle school is a teeming cesspool of brutish behavior.

How long will people remember Amanda Todd before next news cycle flushes her story away? I still remember the story of Phoebe Prince, but I wonder how many people still do.
